לפנות בוקר הוזעקו שוטרי תחנת שפט ממחוז ירושלים, יחד עם לוחמי מג"ב עוטף ירושלים, אל מסוף האוטובוסים במעבר קלנדיה בעקבות דיווח של אזרח על ילד תועה שנמצא במקום.
מדובר בילד כבן 3, בעל חזות חרדית, הדובר יידיש בלבד. ניסיונות השוטרים לדלות ממנו פרטים מזהים נוספים לא צלחו. המשטרה הביאה מתורגמן אלא שהילד אינו מתקשר.
בשל הקור ששרר בשעות הלילה, ובשל הצורך בביצוע פעולות איתור שעשויות להימשך זמן, הועבר הילד לתחנת המשטרה שפט במרחב קדם. במקביל הועבר דיווח לגורמי הרווחה.
גם הבוקר ממשיכים השוטרים במאמצים לזיהוי הילד ולאיתור הוריו.
כל אדם שיש בידיו פרט או מידע שיכול לסייע בזיהוי הקטין או באיתור בני משפחתו, מתבקש לפנות ללא דיחוי למוקד 100 של המשטרה, או לשוטר הקהילתי בתחנת שפט – רפאל, בטלפון 050-6277876.
