חברת חדשות 12 פרסמה היום הודעה חריפה בעקבות ההסתה והאלימות הגוברת כך לדבריהם כלפי כתב המשפט הבכיר גיא פלג, ומאשימה את גורמי ההסתה בכך שהם מלבים אווירה מסוכנת שמאיימת על חופש העיתונות בישראל.
בהודעת חברת החדשות נכתב כי בשבועות האחרונים חווה פלג מתקפה אלימה ומתמשכת, שהגיעה לשיאה בימים האחרונים כאשר אמש נחסם בעת ששהה ברכבו, והבוקר נתלה בבני ברק שלט הסתה חריג הקורא לכלוא עיתונאי במדינה דמוקרטית.
בחדשות 12 מבהירים כי לא מדובר במקרה פרטי אלא בתופעה חמורה המאיימת על יסודות הדמוקרטיה תוך שהם מתעלמים מהעובדה שבמשך שנים השמאל תקף את כתבי חדשות 14 – אירועים שעברו ללא גינוי.
"האלימות כלפי פלג חצתה קו אדום. זהו לא עוד מקרה של שנאה ברשת – זו קריאת השכמה מסוכנת לחברה הישראלית. עיתונאים אינם אויבי העם, אלא שליחי הציבור לחשיפת האמת."
עוד נכתב כי החברה "גאה בגיא פלג, עיתונאי שהאמת היא נר לרגליו, שחושף באומץ מחדלים ושחיתויות ופועל בנחישות למען הציבור. האלימות לא תרפה את ידיו ולא את ידי עיתונאי חדשות 12 מלהמשיך בעבודתם ללא מורא וללא משוא פנים."
נזכיר כי גיא פלג טען כי לוחמי כח מאה אנסו מחבל נאצי באמצעות סרטון מבושל שפורסם במהדורת 12.
